Friends say I'm easy-going, caring. thoughtful, sometimes funny, sometimes serious.



A touch creative. Very conventional in love and friendship values. Although I may look it, I'm not an aging hippie, radical, weird, someone who makes others uncomfortable. I'm very easy to be with. College prof and writer. A no-nonsense guy. Skinny muscular. Let’s explore!



I like simple things -- a walk, a discussion. Sometimes complicated things -- nature, the outdoors, eats, classical music, museums, movies, books, discussions, art, architecture, cats. scifi, and science. I'm an introvert and wilt at big parties and crowded, noisy places. But I'm quite alive at give-and-take discussions about politics, religion, people, art, science, philosophy, stupid things, food, the weather, your thoughts, society, dumb pet tricks, news, tv, books, articles . . . you name it.



Professionally I write and am a prof at a local university. Psychologist, but no longer practice shrinkology or, god forbid, analyze people. I don't even understand myself. Don't ask about Freud. Ugh. I write books and irreverent essays that stir the pot. Sacred cows make good hamburger. Most definitely not a rich author. "Failed author" might fit better, except that I enjoy this stuff. My last book was a strange and funny text on the paranormal. A few classes around the country actually use it as a textbook. My new project is on mindfulness. "All Paths Lead to Mindfulness" is the title. I'm also writing something called "The Great Naked Paranormal Belief Machine."



I'm very out and open and will confront a bigot on a dime. I feel perfectly free asking holy people embarrassing and revealing questions. And I have absolutely no problem publicly embracing and kissing those I love. I will speak out and publicly confront ignorance and intolerance.



I'm something of a spiritual person; I meditate regularly, pray irregularly, love not nearly enough, and above all question fearlessly. I get along very well with guys from all faiths, lack of faiths, and faiths that are based on total delusion. If forced to pick a label, it might be "prayerfully spiritual atheist" who respects deeper powers, even if they're entirely in my head. One must be a bit humble about such things. Buddhism is always a good place to start. But there's more, much more. This stuff is fun to talk about. I frequently remind my self that I might be totally and completely wrong.



I also have fun with paranormal claims, although frankly I'm a bit of a skeptic and do a good job a debunking superstition. In fact I teach a class on just that. Please don't tell me you've been abducted by aliens, were King Tut in a previous life, or have an authentic sexual relationship with a ghost. It just won't work.



I'm uncomfortable describing the type of guy I don't click with. I'm open to everyone. Simple, ordinary dudes, as well as guys with a few curiosities. But I really don't do well with guys who have difficulty with a give-and-take discussion, and just talk about their interests. What are you like? Do people say you are a good listener? Are you genuinely curious about the guys you meet? Do find yourself asking questions to explore more about about them? Or do you do all the talking?



Thin. Sinewy. Muscular. Very fit. Work out a minimum of 2 hours daily, 5-7 days a week. Runner's build with a touch of muscle. So they say. No complaints in that department.
