I like to think of myself as an intelligent, unpretentious guy with a big eye on the world ... at least that is what my friends say about me. I recently moved from San Diego to San Jose for work, and find that I love the Bay Area, including the South Bay where I live. At a point in my life right now where friendly, mature sex is OK; but a long-term relationship and my friendships are much more important priorities. Over the long haul, it makes for a better quality of life. I have a lot of varied interests ... Zen Buddhist practice, world travel, contemporary art, live theater, cultural venues, volunteering, but also have a silly, goofy side when I let my guard down. Can't say that I have a particular type physically, but intelligent and good-hearted men are just sexy to me ... in all forms. The only turn-offs are being overly-materialistic or mean/sarcastic humor at other peoples' expense. I shied away from dating for a few years, but now the prospect of meeting new and interesting people, leaving ourselves open and vulnerable to romantic possibilities, and perhaps sharing the journey is kind of exciting. If you'd like to know anything else, don't be shy!

Coffee dates aren't it. It is too easy to disconnect and caffeine in the mix can make things a little more tense. After emailing and talking, I like to take things to next level by going out to dinner. People can learn a lot about each other over dinner, and sharing food and conversation is a great way to see if there is any chemistry.
